Move over Eastenders! Who cares about reality TV?

Perth High have gone one better by setting up their own TV studio and broadcasting live on air - all from one iMac!

Members of the digital video class were involved in planning and broadcasting a series of live clips and interviews to members of the council. The school had been involved in a digital video pilot for the district using Macs and the editing program iMovie.

Third Year pupils out filming, overseen by Mr Hynd
Rather than just show the films, however, they decided to showcase them by using a live TV program. It took place on the 29th of January at the Atrium opposite Dewars Rinks. A group of pupils and staff gathered with the council to watch the series of live clips. Nicola Dow acted as the presenter, Amy Cardno held the cue cards, Andrew Crawley was the camera man and Arran Gillies and Grant Roper were in charge of the live channels.

The clips started with an introduction followed by an interview with Mr Hynd about the project. Second year narrated and acted out a poem called "Ethelred", which is about a boy who was fascinated with cars - so much so that he drank petrol and tragically died. Third year went to Balhousie Castle and made up their own Whodunnit? while another group of third years filmed primary seven pupils about their fears of coming up to Perth High School. They filmed a reconstruction of their fears then turned it around to show what the High School is actually like.

The audience were very impressed by the demo and the teachers involved are hopeful that this will result in one or two more iMacs appearing in the school.
