Minutes of Meeting 28/01/03
Present: Mrs M Tattersfield, Mr A Robertson, Mrs J Pedgrift, Mrs L Miller, Mr C Lidstone, Kate Barlow (P&K; Environment Services), Sarah Connolly, Ryan Smith, Sam Fuller, Bruce Fletcher.

Mural
No response from S1 designing a mural so the Art Portfolio group along with Miss Bain are going to take this on. Mrs Pedgrift will show them the plan of the new garden so that it can be incorporated into their design.
Garden
We now have the plans for the garden area, a two-tiered garden. The lower area is to incorporate a stage, raised beds and lots of seating. The upper area, which will be used for educational purposes, will be supervised at all times and will be used by staff to relax at lunchtime. This area consists of the existing greenhouse, a nature garden, trial gardens for growing fruit & vegetables, some mosaic tiles and seating.
Litter
The ‘Just Bin It’ campaign is going very well. The pupils are responding well and are making quite an impact on the targeted areas. Kate Barlow (Perth & Kinross Council Environment Services) has given an excellent presentation to pupils throughout the school which has been well received. Kate attended the meeting and spoke to the group about a new environmental competition she is running. Kate would like the pupils to design posters to promote the competition.
Energy Saving
Mrs Pedgrift had a meeting with Mr G Dick, council energy officer. Mr Dick is going to attend our next committee meeting. He had lots of good ideas and left plenty of posters to be distributed around the school. Mrs Tattersfield is designing a questionnaire going out to all staff trying to identify problem areas.

Healthy Eating
We received a reply from Mr Illsley regarding Mr Robertson’s concerns about the content of the vending machines. We can only supply Nestlé products. The committee feel there is far too much junk food and carbonated drinks in the vending machines. Mr Robertson is looking into the provision of a ‘healthy option’ vending machine as well as those we already have.
