Minutes of Meeting 10/12/02
Present: Mrs M Tattersfield, Mr A Robertson, Mrs J Pedgrift, Mr C Lidstone (School Chaplain) Jennifer Loudon, Sarah Connolly, Katie Melville, Laura Morrison, Alison Hunter, Alyson Clarke, Ryan Smith, Sam Fuller, Deborah Haire, Bruce Fletcher.
Mural
Closing date for mural entries from S1 is Friday, 13th December, If no entries are forthcoming we shall discuss the mural at our next meeting. Ideas voiced were ‘Earth, Wind and Fire’ and ‘Features of Perth’. We shall get in touch with June McEwen (community artist) and Mr D Hamilton for advice on the project.
Garden
We have applied to the Beechgrove Garden but as yet have had no response. We have also applied to Perth & Kinross Council Environment Services for a grant of £1000. Ian Fleming, a landscape gardener, is going to draw up plans so that we can apply for further funding.
Litter
Kate Barlow will show all pupils in the school a PowerPoint presentation and video. All S1 classes will be taken out of class on a Tuesday afternoon to do a litter pick and also to watch the video.
Energy Saving
Pupils are on the lookout for hot-spots and areas where energy is wasted. Mrs Tattersfield is going to produce a memo to send round staff asking for problems. We are going to invite Mr Gordon Dick from the council to come in and answer questions.
Paper Recycling
This appears to be going well with lots of paper recycling.
Healthy Eating
Meeting with Mrs Hood, the Senior Dining Lady. We have a healthy eating points system with prizes available for the winners. We need to promote this through assemblies so that everyone knows it is ongoing, or when a new competition starts. Mr Robertson will speak to Mr Illsley (Assistant Rector) regarding healthy options in the vending machines.
