Initiative and Challenge course

By dave girling | Tuesday 31st Jan 2006 14:39

Over the past three weeks and the next two, nine 3rd and 4th year students have been participating in an initiative and challenge course.

So far they have had a design, planning, marketing and construction challenge. A challenge for the whole group to go bowling. Normally very simple but we are joined for the course by mountaineer and quadruple amputee Jamie Andrew (www.jamieandrew.com) who after a tragic mountaineering accident had to have his arms and legs removed due to frostbite.

The group then had to plan, organise and carry out a climbing and abseil day. This included choosing the venue, equipment required, setting up the safety ropes and systems under Jamie and Dave's watchful eyes. The group are currently organising the creation of a film entitled "Overcoming Challenge".
