The World of Jonathan Meres
Author, actor, comedian and one-time ice-cream salesman, Jonathan Meres, paid Perth High School a visit on February 8.
Two S2 classes came along to the library where Jonathan entertained them with his riotous and slightly anarchic style, whether they liked it or not!Jonathan is author of the hugely popular “World of Norm” books, currently one of the most in-demand titles in the library. He read an excerpt from volume 3 in the series “May Produce Gas”, and explained how his characters and situations are all based on real life, but with a heightened sense of ridiculousness.
His session showed perfectly how exaggeration can be used to comic effect. His visit was described by pupils as “crazy”, “funny” and “loud”. (Apologies to Geography classes within earshot on the day).
He graciously stayed behind to sign books and pose for more photographs before leaving to continue work on his next book.
